Morocco’s MICE Infrastructure Shines in Indian Roadshow Across South India, ETTravelWorld


Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) has concluded a three-city MICE-focused roadshow across Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru, targeting the growing outbound travel demand from South India. The initiative follows a 31 percent year-on-year increase in Indian arrivals in 2025 and a 224 percent growth since 2019.

The roadshows engaged over 80 travel trade professionals, positioning Morocco as a destination capable of hosting large-scale MICE and experiential travel programmes. Key cities such as Marrakech, Casablanca, and Rabat were highlighted for their convention infrastructure, luxury hospitality offerings, and proven track record in hosting global events.

Morocco’s credentials include hosting major international events such as the COP22 and the World Bank and IMF Annual Meetings, demonstrating its capability to manage high-volume international delegations. The country currently offers approximately 300,000 hotel beds and high-capacity venues such as the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech and Espace Bab Jdid, supporting large incentive groups and conferences.

To enhance accessibility for Indian travellers, Morocco has introduced initiatives such as the “Access Maroc” e-visa platform, enabling a streamlined visa process. On-ground services, including multilingual chauffeur support, are tailored to meet the requirements of Indian groups.

The destination is also strengthening its appeal across niche segments. Culinary offerings include Indian fine dining experiences at The Oberoi Marrakech, along with dedicated Indian chef teams in key cities. The destination wedding segment is witnessing increasing traction, with demand for large-format, multi-day celebrations across heritage palaces and resorts.

Additionally, destinations such as Ouarzazate are being promoted for film tourism and large-scale corporate events, leveraging their established global production infrastructure.

Commenting on the initiative, Jamal Kilito, Country Manager India, MNTO, said, “India is rapidly evolving into a high-intent, high-value market for Morocco. Our approach today goes beyond awareness, as we are focused on conversion, deeper partnerships, and building long-term preference. We are seeing strong momentum across MICE, luxury travel, and destination weddings, supported by growing media visibility and strategic collaborations. With significant investments made in preparation for AFCON 2025 and the FIFA World Cup 2030, Morocco is enhancing its infrastructure and event facilities, making it an ideal destination for international conferences, incentive programmes, and large-scale celebrations.”

In 2025, Morocco welcomed 53,697 Indian travellers and is targeting approximately 70,000 visitors in 2026. The growth strategy is anchored in expanding MICE promotion, strengthening trade partnerships, and enhancing luxury travel offerings.
