The Vinitaly India Roadshow 2026 concluded successfully in New Delhi, reinforcing Italy’s strategic focus on India as a key growth market for premium imported wines. The showcase, held at Taj Palace, was inaugurated by H EAntonio Bartoli, Ambassador of Italy to India, and took place against the backdrop of renewed optimism surrounding the forthcoming EU–India Free Trade Agreement, expected to further enhance bilateral trade in wine and spirits.
Organised by Veronafiere, the New Delhi edition served as a key precursor to Vinitaly 2026, scheduled from 12–15 April 2026 in Verona, connecting Italian wine producers with Indian importers, distributors, retailers, sommeliers, and hospitality decision-makers.
India’s wine industry, though still nascent in scale, continues to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 8–10%, led by premiumisation, urbanisation, and the rise of fine-dining culture. Italy consistently ranks among India’s top three wine import origins, alongside France and Australia, driven by growing demand for Prosecco, DOC, and DOCG wines.
Ambassador Antonio Bartoli said, “Italy and India share a strong and evolving trade relationship, and wine represents both a cultural and economic bridge. The Vinitaly India Roadshow reflects growing Indian interest in high-quality Italian wines and Italy’s commitment to long-term partnerships in this dynamic market.”
The event featured curated tastings, B2B meetings, and networking sessions, enabling dialogue between Italian producers and Indian trade stakeholders.
Adolfo Rebughini, Director General, Veronafiere, stated, “The engagement at the New Delhi edition confirms India’s strategic relevance for Italian producers. Our goal is to build continuity, trust, and concrete business opportunities leading into Vinitaly 2026.”
Vas Shenoy, Chief Representative for Italy, Indian Chamber of Commerce, added, “India’s premium and on-trade wine segments are maturing rapidly. Initiatives like Vinitaly Roadshow are crucial in connecting markets and fostering sustainable growth.”
Following the New Delhi leg, the Vinitaly India Roadshow will travel to Panaji, Goa, further strengthening trade linkages with India’s hospitality-driven coastal markets.
